Q-Line Intelligent Switchers from Quark are fully RS232 controllable, making them excellent front-ends for CCTV switching systems and "add-on" devices for other CCTV control or transmission equipment.
For instance, a card Access Control system does a great job of controlling entry into a facility. Adding a video camera at the location of the access control reader adds greatly to the system security, however, making that particular camera display on a security monitor or output to a video recorder can be difficult. Controlling the video switching system via "alarming inputs" is messy and changing settings, such as times when alarms are to be ignored on specific cameras, etc., is almost an impossible task.
Using a Q-Line Intelligent Switcher with it's RS232 control port allows an access control manufacturer or integrator an easy path to integrate CCTV with an access control point with very minimal hardware. Once a control command sequence is added to the main access control system the video becomes a fully integrated part of the access control. The Q-Line Switcher can selectively monitor cameras and alarm inputs and report per a schedule or simply pass it's additional alarm sensor information through to the access system and await it's command as to what camera to switch and to which monitor output (of it's four matrix outputs).
Adding a Q-Line VMD switcher further enhances security by allowing the Switcher to detect unauthorized activity using it's Video Motion Detection capability and report this real-time to the access control system.
